The Tsinghua Southeast Asia Center had the privilege of hosting Professor Wang Tien Yin, the founding head of Tsinghua Medicine and Vice Provost of Tsinghua University, for a pivotal discussion on the future of medicine and TSEA’s role in driving transformative change. Joined by Professors Song Sen and Wenting Mu of Tsinghua University, along with distinguished figures such as Ms. Cherie Nursalim, Sir Gordon Duff, and H.E. Tantowi Yahya of the United in Diversity Foundation, the dialogue brought together thought leaders from academia, policy, and industry. Representatives from Indonesia’s Ministry of Health contributed invaluable insights, fostering a rich exchange on medical innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the urgent need to align healthcare advancements with sustainability and accessibility.
Following the dynamic discussions, Professor Wang and fellow participants gathered for the annual United in Diversity Lunar New Year celebration dinner at Surf Surf by the Wave on Kura Kura Island. Against the tranquil backdrop of the ocean, the evening provided a space to further cultivate partnerships in a more informal setting, reinforcing the shared commitment to progress in medicine and education. Conversations flowed seamlessly between scientific aspirations and cultural reflections, marking the occasion not only as a celebration of the new year but also as a reaffirmation of collective efforts toward a healthier, more interconnected future.
