At the vibrant Tsinghua Southeast Asia Center in Bali, Ignite Bali 2025 brought together company founders, experienced mentors, and thought leaders for a day of learning and collaboration. The Pre-Accelerator Bootcamp served as a platform to share insights, build connections, and empower the next generation of Indonesian entrepreneurs.
The day began with remarks from the Tsinghua Southeast Asia Center, represented by Michael Touri. The Tsinghua Southeast Asia Center welcomed initiatives supporting entrepreneurship and startup development in Bali. The Ministry of MSMEs, represented by Siti Azizah, Deputy for Entrepreneurship, stated that the Ministry continues to encourage and support entrepreneurial development with various upstream and downstream programs to create a strong startup ecosystem. The event continued with a symbolic plaque exchange between the Tsinghua Southeast Asia Center and the Deputy for Entrepreneurship, reaffirming their shared commitment to strengthening Indonesia’s startup ecosystem.
The discussion began with Michael Tuori, Academic Director of the Tsinghua Southeast Asia Center, who highlighted the role of AI-powered smart supply chains in driving business efficiency and innovation. The message set an energetic tone, encouraging participants to embrace technology as a catalyst for growth and innovation.
Wisnu S. Dewobroto, Dean of Entrepreneurship at Podomoro University, delivered an impressive session on “PMF Isn’t Forever: Staying Relevant in a Dynamic Market.” He reminded participants that achieving product-market fit is only the beginning, and that continuous adaptation to changing market needs is crucial for long-term success.
Arief Budiman, APINDO’s representative for MSMEs and cooperatives, delivered an equally important session on “Start Strong: The Strength of the Founding Team, Ethics, and Startup Leadership.” He reminded participants of a crucial point: Startup success is determined more by the strength of the founding team than by the idea alone. Great teams have complementary skills, a shared vision and values, and collective leadership. Conflict between founders is a major cause of early failure, so the division of roles, equity, and vision must be discussed early on.
The discussion continued with small group mentoring sessions conducted by the mentors and the participants. The mentoring sessions were conducted in three different groups. The discussions were engaging and provided participants with solutions to the problems or situations they were facing.
The day’s program also included an island tour within the Kura Kura Bali Special Economic Zone, where participants visited beautiful eco-friendly tents, the tranquil SSWB area, and the iconic Three Mountains site. This experience combined networking with an appreciation of Bali’s natural charm and sustainability. The event concluded on a positive note, with participants inspired to innovate, collaborate, and grow their businesses.
